Meet the Failcrew – Dana Miller

In a far away land, frozen and snow covered and home to superhuman hockey players, lives a young woman with an awesome rack… which has been spoken of on the internet.

What is your role in Made of Fail Productions?

I am the episode artist for the podcast I Hate/Love Remakes and 3 time guest host. Also… I provide laughter… a lot of laughter and an awesome rack… or so Evie and Dayna say.

What fascinates you the most about your fandoms, or fandom as a whole?

What fascinates me the most is how loyal people can be to their fandoms. If something comes about which threatens their fandom, fans will stand up and fight to the death! Firefly fans got the movie made, Buffy fans are still fighting the good fight against sparklepires and the tarnishing of the vampire name. Then there are the Twilight fans… yeah. I guess that is a little more frightening than fascinating.

What is your proudest accomplishment or achievement?

In 2008, with only 5 months preparation, I decided to move to New Zealand for a year. I saved up and was able to be self-sufficient halfway around the world. It was an amazing and educational experience which I grew so much from. The trip also helped me learn how to be comfortable in my own skin… this accomplishment will be overturned in about a year and a half when I get my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the spring of 2013. I will be the first in my immediate family to have a degree, and one of the very few in my extended family. I am very proud of this (can you tell?).

What do you do when you’re not online?

TRY AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD! When I am not doing that I am usually going to school/working/doing hobbies/spending time with friends and my wonderful boyfriend. I am a 3rd year Fine Arts major which includes drawing, painting, sculpture, digital media, photography, art history, etc. I work in as a director and graphics operator at a horse racing track to help produce the live show and I am currently working as an assistant to the editor intern at a luxury lifestyle magazine. I occasionally volunteer as a coach, ref or score keeper for various sports including wrestling, field hockey, bowling and baseball. Due to injury I haven’t been able to play sports for the past few years but I plan on going back as soon as I can but am getting by with snowboarding/skiing in the winter and swimming/boating/hiking in the summer. I also spend my time singing and trying to play the guitar. I say try because I only have about 5 notes down. Yes, this does allow me to play many songs but I kind of suck at the strumming part. I play better when I’m a little on the drunk side… and camping.

What is your dream job?

Still figuring out what my dream job is but what I think I would love to do is become a comic book artist and eventually owning my own comic book company. I would love to be able to work from home, have a home studio where I would also use it to create more art with painting and sculpture. Maybe even have a gallery? Like I said, still figuring it all out. Basically, if I can do art for the rest of my life and get paid for it… SOLD!

What is your greatest pet peeve?

Arrogant people and watching people brush their teeth. Arrogant people I think is pretty self-explanatory… but the teeth brushing thing… I have no idea where it came from and I don’t know why but it grosses me out. Other than that I think idiots should be added to the list and people who are idiots but don’t know it. There’s just no excuse.

P.S. We have no snow. It’s all just a misunderstanding. Texas has gotten more snow than us. We do have rain and moderate temperatures… 90% of the year.
