[Made Of Fail] Episode 64 – BORK BORK BORK BORK BORK

Episode 64 is live!

SHOW NOTES

Thank you to Cleolinda Jones for joining us this episode! Find her on Twitter and on LiveJournal!

NBC News has put together a comprehensive list of ways you can help the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing.

On the Media had an excellent discussion of media coverage of the bombing; give it a listen.

There have unfortunately been a lot of horrible people crawling out of the woodwork in the wake of this tragedy. MightyGodKing has written an excellent piece on why you really should just dismiss them as assholes.

There are many ways to deal with their negativity. One is to listen to kinder, gentler voices, such as Mr. Rogers (recorded regarding 9/11, but Mr. Rogers is always relevant). Another is to confront the trolls when applicable and appropriate.

Or, finally, just bork bork bork.

  1. I think that times like these are when Made of Fail as a whole is at it’s best…how, as in the past, you guys can get a great discussion going about something important out of something so tragic, or painful. I think the topic this month hits a lot of people very hard, and not only am I glad someone finally tackled it, I’m glad it was you. Thanks and great job.

  2. Thank you Dayna. I have been listening to Made of Fail since the first ep with Cleolinda (drink), but am commenting for the first time.
I suffer from, among other things, cripplingly low self-esteem. I recently moved across the country, thousands of miles from anyone I know to someplace with actual winter, and the last few months have been so hard. I needed to hear someone like you who knows these feelings so well say the things you have said in the last few episodes.
Thank you for reminding us out here that we ARE precious, dammit, and I will be googling therapists in the morning…

  3. Hey, I don’t know if you remember me, but I finally (years late, I know, I suck, but this iPhone is making it SO EASY to listen to podcasts whereas before it was such a pain) and I’m catching up, and you guys are completely awesome. o.o *speeds through the archives like a mad thing which is mad*
