[Review] Supergirl Episode 5×18: “The Missing Link”

written by Cara Russell

SPOILER WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT

I’ve tried to watch this episode multiple times to get the details, but it’s not sticking. This is more a gauge on my mental state than it is of the episode’s quality, but I’ll happily blame the state of the world too.

In the short, Lex is Lex and the folks around him begin to realize that he’s not actually their ally. Lex is only on Lex’s team. And despite being hyper-competent at many things, Lex fails to understand the human component in many of his schemes. Namely, Lena defects and Katie McGrath deserves all the awards as she begs Kara not for any sort of forgiveness, but atonement through defeating Lex.

This is the thing we’ve wanted for several seasons now: that Kara and Lena come to an accord, and a common understanding. Though it sucks that a larger evil had to be the thing to do it, it’s hilarious that Lex’s attempts to get Lena to be his buddy is what will lead to his downfall again.

Somewhere else, J’onn and M’gann are adorable together. I hope they get to continue to be adorable together forevers and evers, ’cause we need some good things to look forward to.
